Title: Martin's Appliable Linguistics under the Perspective of Bakhtin's Philosophical Ideas on Linguistics

Abstract: Bakhtin gives an insightful elaboration on the importance of the philosophical foundations of linguistic and semiotic studies and dialogism. Martin, as a systemic-functional linguist, takes context as social semiotic, realized by language. This paper is to illustrate how Martin inherit the philosophical foundation and develop the supervenience theory and the engagement system by aligning him in Bakhtin's framework.
